<<< Are you sure about selling a newbie when it goes down 12%? One stock I have is only a $17 stock and that would mean just going to $15 would get it sold and that can happen in a bumpy day>>>>
The clue is to have a rule of some type, and I can remember almost every occasion when it worked, or I violated it.
Bought AAR at 18,24,28,32,36, then did not sell till 24, 16 12
Costly. Bad show. Shoulda dumped it all at $30
Bought Gibralter (#1 S and L)at $14, sold 2 days later at 11.5,
it went to zero. Good show
Bought Midway Airline at $12, sold shortly later at $9, it went
to zero. Good show.
Bought Dean Witter US GOVMT at $1, sold at 0.90, it has done nothing for years....
Bought Jabil at $60, did not sell till it dropped 30%. Rule
violated. Bad show.
Now these are different times, different rules, more volatility
But that one worked for me, and it forces one to dump the losers
and put the money in winners.
On a cheap stock it is not required to be exact 12%, just have
some tankage in mind at which you will dump it.
