What's anti-government about a flat tax proposal? It's a great idea. We oughta do it in the states. Problem in the states, and probably Canada too, is that for it to work, all income must be recognized as income. It is ludicrous to pretend that wages are income that is somehow different from, and taxed differently than, capital gains, dividends, interest, inheritance, ad nauseum. Call all income, income, and establish a single rate to cover all of it. A common rate applied to the first dollar of income up.. No loopholes no exclusions. Bet that base would support a single digit income tax rate.
