We've been in a recession for 7 years, only Greenspan has helped to cover it up by borrowing a huge amount of money and spending it friviolously while encouraging others to borrow with low interest rates. This made the numbers appear to be positive even as the economy went very bad. It's all a credit-illusion of prosperity and now even that charade is falling apart.
