I agree that the story doesn't stand up to the evidence. What I was pointing out though was that the intra-jewish disagreements between the Essenes and the establishment of Jerusalem of which any character in the Jesus story would have been a part, were much different than the environment of pending war with Rome that characterized the time of Paul. The calender time was not great, but the atmosphere was completely changed.
