Well, all I can say is that the public image did not mesh with his intention then. I recall the distinct impression I had while watching the biographical filmstrip at the convention that everything was a new image of his war heroics. It's not that I minded his heroics, but he didn't touch at all on the campaign of the day. Maybe it was subtle, too subtle for me, but I wondered what in the heck was this guy doing?.

It's fine for a campaign to reflect upon the past, but they have to end on the future. That's my apprehension with Hillary, she is all about a decade ago and I really think we have some current problems that need fixing.

As for Edwards... I like him a lot, but he isn't giving as good a speech as Obama and at least half the job of a President is how good a speech he can give to the country. Maybe we need to have another office for the inspirational and ceremonial tasks.
