Vietnam has done the US no harm since we left. None at all. So why assume Iraq will? One thing we do know, ever since we moved in there the place has been a total disaster, and our military and budget are devastated as a result. We've even succeeded in sparking a war up north between the Kurds and Turkey.

Also, the Brits recently pulled out of Basra and the violence there has stopped. SO more evidence.
