Well... whether it was a 'shame' or not, at least it was a realistic assessment of his prospects. It is a shame because he would have been a better candidate than any of the other Republican candidates. Honest (for a politician), sticks to his word, conservative but not wacko conservative, gets things done, and very very intelligent. But the press demonized him so much that many, probably yourself, think of him as a baby killer. The only negative he has that is his fault is his divorce and mistress due to a failed political marriage.
