TJ, $400 looks more like the long term price. But perhaps $300 is more likely with production costs going down. In 1900, it was hard work digging gold by hand out of the hills of the Coromandel. Now at Waihi they have big machinery doing the work while a few blokes in attendance twiddle the steering wheel and rock grinder knobs.

Gold won't be used as money other than in niche ways. It's easier to use Qi cybercurrency.

Gold is a LOT of hard work and expense. All that is required is a bunch of 0s and 1s on bank accounts and gold isn't needed for that. There's no need to stack up lumps of metal to keep score.
