Well, both the short drop and the standard drop seem to guard (somewhat) against the head being ripped off. And they forestall the potentiality of mathematical errors creeping into the equation and impressing the results.

It was the uncertainty of the long drop that argued the switch to electricity, so IF you have no moral qualms about the short drop (and why should you?), you might wish (on grounds of cleanliness) to reconsider the confidence of your zeal for the hanging method of killing people.

I'm not sure I buy your assertion that "quickness" justifies the opinion. Perhaps at the final moment there is some "quickness" involved, but I am not aware of time being considered a "green" resource in short supply. Certainly, those involved in the actual killing are getting paid for their time: Their shift will end and their breakfast bagels will begin according to union standards...and irrespective of how the extinction is engineered.

So, I am not sure I see the point of the "quickness" argument?
