He will get it, because you're his Dad. Believe me, when he's 38 like my daughter is right now he'll be as loving as you are and will stand up for himself like you do. My daughter pulled some stunts that I don't even want to relate, such as wrecking a car before I had given her a driver's lesson. She was 10 or 11. She turned out to be a fine teacher and one of the smartest people I know. We despaired that she wasn't listening to our parenting, but she was.
