Mouse versus chimeric versus primatized versus humanized......

First, "primatization my ass". While continuing to hype primatized Abs, IDEC was out quietly licensing humanization tech from PDLI. With the latest (more visible, being the second) license, they have begun to taper off on the primatized noise.

Mouse..... CLTR is stuck with it. Yes, half-life in this situation is not critical. Their arguement that it provides benefit is weak, IMO, but it's largely irrelevant; they have a lead and they look like they're headed for market share.

Chimeric...... this results from a lack of early insight, from traveling down a path of trying to avoid dependence on PDLI. I initiated the interaction between XOMA and Greg Winter's lab that led to the work that was licensed by GNE/Idec, and I've followed Idec's constrained arguements with a jaundiced eye for years.

I missed one important development, which had me worried sick. Max uncovered it, providing a final piece of logic regarding anti-CD40L and BGEN. Analysis at SI is powerful.

Cheers! Rick
