08/25/97 National Mortgage News He [Cityscape spokesman] added that short sellers are spreading negative information about Cityscape in an attempt to drive down the price of its shares. (Short sellers borrow shares at one price, sell the shares, and then hope that they can replace those borrowed shares later after the stock has fallen in value.) Late last year NMN reported that Robertson Stephens & Co., San Francisco, was one investor that was possibly shorting Cityscape's shares.
