Bill,

It's always dangerous to leave you unsupervised on the boards over the weekend. Your flights if fancy are the stuff of legend.

OK, let's talk about numbers shall we? First of all, you might want to refresh your memory a bit. Remember this old link, thessasource.com It was written shortly after Amelio got fired and before the June quarterly numbers were posted. (They beat expectations, remember?) Since then we've had Steve Jobs take over, the Boston Expo, OS 8 released and a surge of computer sales shortly thereafter.

We've also had Adobe report superb earnings, with a "surprising" surge in Mac software sales. Then we got Motorola's numbers with a big jump in PPC chip sales. Finally, UMAX just posted great numbers, news.com.

I realize that you're eager to write Apple's obituary. But you may be a bit premature. Market share numbers are hard to come by, but it seems likely that Apple has at least stopped the bleeding.

Looking forward, we've got a new national advertising campaign (the first in years), a revamped reseller network, great new products and a bit of "attitude" from Apple's management. Your solicitous cooing about WINTEL conquering the world is touching but misguided.

Bob
