"In both, the US won many battles, but in the end that was unimportant because there was never a military solution to the perceived problem to begin with.

Not true. There was a military solution to Saddam's brutal regime and there was a military solution to gaining Iraq's security. It is simply not the only tool in our arsenal. There is also diplomacy, political reconciliation, and development of infrastructure. The end is a long way off.

"Ron Paul is right. What would we all do if China invaded us and told us our government needs to be like theirs?

A military invasion by China is an entirely inapplicable comparison for Ron Paul or you to make. However, what will you do with 100 million or so excess young Asian men who are ready to come on line looking for a life's purpose? You think that problem will remain in the East, think again ... one hundred million desperate men makes for quite an invasion militarily or otherwise... and these days invasions can be virtual as much as physical.
