Obviously you do not read the same charts as I do. The bull is intact and charging ahead as shown by charts of all popular index (XAU, HUI, XGD, GDX). The CDNX (VSE stocks) is lagging but catching up. My selection of 50 mining juniors is up 5% in 2008 since our 2007 annual review, after being up 10% in 2007 and 62% in 2006. Most stocks are in a bull. Many a still in correction from their November high but some are already at new highs. So the bull remains alive. One good point for you is that gold and silver are performing equally early in 2008.
