LIAR. No one is waiting for an assassination. Edwards is hoping to win in South Carolina right now, and even if he finishes strongly, then Obama or Hillary have a serious scandal or gaffe then he's back in it. if not, then he would be smart to leverage the support he's got, which is very substantial, to be VP. WHo would Edwards endorse? Probably Obama.
Remember George Allen was a shoe-in for re-election and the favorite for the 2008 GOP nomination before his "macaca moment". There are many such examples. But yes, a liberal charismatic black candidate does risk assassination in this country. If they murdered the Kennedys, ML King, Pat Tillman and others, you can see the possibility. Some say George Wallace was also gunneds down by the rightwing to keep him from taking votes from Nixon.
I'm sure that's a remote possibility. Just don't underestimate the evil of the far right, especially at the point where the NRA, militia movement and right supremicist neo-Nazi movements come together. Timothy McVeigh got a whiff of that and look what he did. And though they didn't physically murder Kerry, the smearvets were about as evil as it gets in terms of lies and smears. These people are willing to make up any lie or do anything. Remember they stole the last two elections. |
