In some cases there is clear overall success, I don't know that I'd say many.
In other cases there is success from a certain standpoint, where your giving up efficiency or freedom or paying some other price to get some benefit. To those who care a lot about the benefit the government intervention might be successful, it succeeds in doing what its supposed to do, it succeeds in getting a benefit for some people. In that sense its not a failed program. In a few cases their might be some benefit for almost everyone, but whether the benefit is worth the cost, whether you really have a net benefit can be highly questionable.
Oh come on man, look around. The government provides your street lights, your street cleaning, in some areas picks up your garbage, passes laws that make society work, provides police protection from criminals and jails criminals, provides for the countries defence, puts your house out if it catches on fire, regulates your food so you don't get poisoned, Jeez I could go on for pages. Our government is a very good part of what makes this country great.
When you say "In some cases there is clear overall success, I don't know that I'd say many" it's just pure bull shit. |
