Yes...but if you had to scale solar to replace the capacity of coal, the costs of materials would skyrocket. Thus your're not realistically comparing the two.

Undoubtedly solar thermoelectric will be much more widely used, (in fact there is a large project in Nevada near Vegas already operating and a "large" one in AZ on the drawing board (by large I mean 100 mW, still small by power plant standards, but large for solar), but there are still some technical issues remaining.
