In the old days with brokered conventions, deals were struck for President and VP. They were also marriages of convenience. LBJ wanted to be president badly too. He also delivered the election for JFK by giving him Texas. Edwards would be a fool to drop out or not use his clout if he has it. Besides, he hasn't given up yet. But if he loses South Carolina he will probably be running for VP like Richardson was all along.
