Michael and John, I want to second Tarados thank-you for posting your experiences at that time..I was born in '61 and my family came here from Albania that same year..JFK was our liberator..allowing entrance to those seeking political asylum from communist nations..although Albanians had come here in previous generations, we were the first of this 'new generation' of refugees..we had no connections..we started from scratch in every way..point, my family(and I) don't have the strong attachments to Republican and Democrat(although admittedly strongly bent Democrat until we as a group integrated and such), North, South, East, West that I've learned other immigrants who've been here longer(aren't we all immmigrants at some point?).... Discussions about Barack, race, MLK, Johnson have made me want to go back and read authoritative books on that period...but your sharing is more valuable, imo..
