Yes, it was.....I am a humanist and felt it was inhuman to continue to subject that poor womans body to that indignity.
Remember "Psycho".....the character Perkins played kept his dead mother sitting on her rocking chair..... not much difference and it is not terribly unusual...

You never really said how you would handle it in your family???
