There is time enough for Globalstar to get into the aviation market when the system is rebuilt. I'd rather have the equatorial regions and oceans covered with a few satellites around the equator at 10,000 km than worry about the poles.

But the poles are the deal closer Maurice.. Iridium will now be certified on all long haul commercial air transport frames. And of course, what comes next?? Inflight Communications for passengers. Of course, Aeronautical Mobile Satellite (Route) Services will be preemptive. But, you are correct about one thing. No need to worry about the poles anymore.. Because Iridium has all of that business all locked up. It's not just the polar flights. It's all of the flights (non-polar) that a given aircraft that occasionally flies trans-polar routes operates on. And the certification is for trans-oceanic flights.. You know.. Like from LAX to AKL.
