Hi Lizzie,

I installed Q2008 on my desktop and had nothing but problems. I didn't try the renaming feature. However, when I installed Quicken it seemed to install ok and the program worked. However, when I rebooted my computer I could not boot to the desktop.

During the boot process I received a message saying that I have a corrupted or missing Window32/HAL.dll file. I was lucky that I had an image of my drive and a boot disk. So, I was able to recover my computer to an earlier time. I tried again and had the same problem.

Spoke to Dell and Microsoft and they could not fix the problem. Of course, I called Intuit and spoke to the Quicken support tech and they stated that they had never heard of this problem. Of course, what would one expect? So, I gave up on Q2008 and went back to Q2005.

IMO, Quicken should sell a version of the problem that doesn't carry so much bloat. I suspect that it would be a more "responsive program" and might install without screwing up one's computer.
