i was surprised none of them were questioned on $3.50 a gallon heating oil and what they intended to do about it. New Hampshire gave them a free ride.

High oil prices are a fact of life in NH during the winter time and, not surprisingly, even more so in turbulent times. I don't expect that many of us here believe that stumping politicians can do anything about it. (As a matter of fact, part of the blame falls squarely on the record snows we received in December.) So, though you've mentioned it now a couple times, I guess I don't see where NH gave anyone a "free ride". It seems more like we simply passed on posing a silly question - the only purpose of which would be to elicit an equally silly answer! Also, like myself, most oil-dependent homeowners fill up or lock-in to the more reasonable summer rates - particularly during years where oil prices are so volatile. I'm all set for the winter - @$2.50-$2.60/gal.

The local oil companies have very reasonable & varied budget plans that most people around here take advantage of. The ones that really get hurt are the young renters- for the most part they have to get their oil "cash on delivery". (But, unfortunately, that's for good reason since it's not uncommon for them to try and stiff the fuel oil companies.)

(NH does have a state fuel-assistance program - but does not participate in Joe K's Venezuelan Oil give-away.)
