Frank; That is why it is called a niche. It flourishes in isolation, and that is what I said. It has not grown as fast as the overall Wintel market as it reached a high level of use(near saturation) years ago, and then just grew as that market grew. Re copy shops, possibly the ones you frequent are full of Macs as you hate the Wintels. Others are full of Wintels, still others are 50:50. I could say you live in the past too.!!
RE: NT, I see it growing into and displacing Unix as time goes by, and then merging with win2000/browser. It is eating up the small machine uses as we speak. Possibly Rhapsody will redress this?, perhaps not. Once you get to the GUI level the buyer cares little if it is Unix or nor, like Apple they just use the machine.
The institutions will be the first to capitulate to a good offer, as they may not sell their shares, and just offer their votes and take the new paper when it is printed. I do not know whatt poison pills are in place with Apple, hopefully none, as Jobs needs to take the poison.
