The only reason some Dems will vote for Hillary instead of Obama is because of his racial status. They are afraid it will make him unelectable. However, that's changing.....Iowa opened up the eyes of lot of Dems who thought Obama couldn't win in a white world [thank God for the Midwest]. In fact, as soon as he won, people began switching over to him.......I posted an article about Hollywood heavy weights dropping Hillary for Obama the day after Iowa. His momentum was stopped temporarily in NH......but its on the move again; to whit, the recent endorsements of Kerry and Napoliteano. In addition, the Clintons keep shooting themselves in the foot.......Bill saying that Obama is a fairy tale......what a stupid statement. He forgets that 15 years ago, his candidacy was a very long shot.......a governor from a very small southern state.......its why I didn't vote for him the first time. People are getting angry with the Clinton attitude. Time will tell but I think Obama may still get the nod.
And to beat the Republicans, the Dems need a candidate that can capture the Independents a small percentage of Republicans.
This is my honest opinion. The Democrats now have an enormous chink in what I had thought was an impenetrable armor. I thought they had a lock on the White House. Now I believe that Hillary is the biggest liability the DNC has. It's the worst kind of liability, because she has enough star power, funding, and political savvy on her team to potentially beat out Obama for the nomination. But she doesn't have enough unifying power to win the White House. Obama on the other hand has enough charisma intelligence, oratorical might, and funding to win the whole prize. So if Hillary steals the Dem nomination from him, then the Democrats may just have found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I hope they realize it and pick Obama. Otherwise, we're in for another rough 4-8 years under a Bush look alike. God help us. |
