Anyone have any experience with these? Any advice appreciated!

I have a Soundbridge and I love it. We had very good multiroom speakers set up on the stereo and I wanted to continue to use that system since a wired speaker system still works better and we occasionally still spin some vinyl. I use my PC for some pretty intensive operations so adding in streaming audio just sucks up CPU cycles I need to get work done. The SoundBridge will work without your PC for listening to Internet Radio.

I hate chasing down CDs and tend to play either MP3 playlists or Internet Radio stations. The thing that is great about the Sound Bridge, first no wires to the PC which was important to me since it was an awful snake through closed ceilings from my workstation to the stereo, it can be managed either from the PC or from the interface and it'll play I-net radio stations without your PC even being on.

I also subscribe to Rhapsody (because I don't need to own what I can use any time I want) and the Rhapsody service can flow through the SoundBridge as one of several music server options. The Rhapsody service comes up as one of the servers you can choose from the SoundBridge along with the Windows machine you have set up to house your music server. The SoundBridge is basically a client, the PC is the server. BTW Rhapsody also is suppose to work on the TiVo player, I just haven't tried it since I find navigating on a TV with a remote clunkier than using a mouse on a computer when you are looking for folders and files. Somehow listening to music from my TV seems more than a little dorky to me. It reminds me of stupid stuff like "Web TV".

The SoundBridge didn't solve all my music needs, I do still use the laptop and the Bose Acoustic Wave to play MP3 music in the kitchen which was never wired on the stereo system. I also use that set up when I have pool parties since my wireless speakers tend to cut in and out when there are lots of people milling around. I have contemplated getting a second SoundBridge for out there to eliminate having to set up the laptop out there.

The only real downside to the SoundBridge is the interface is a little hard to get used to with multiple menu trees which are hard to navigate with only two lines of type until you can visualize them in your head.

Also, if you haven't been good about uploading your collection in a way that makes sense to a computer (like using keywords, the correct titles and artist names so the songs sort correctly) it can sometimes be difficult to navigate to a particular song by a particular artist. It's a lot easier to find an artist on the computer. I get around this by using playlists that I assembled on the computer or downloaded (in the case of ones I download from the Rhapsody service).

Also, occasionally I have to manually change the links to the ten favorite Internet radio stations because the links will change (it's a simple html doc). The computer interface for the SoundBridge is really pretty simple. I know there are several apps available to make it more useful that can be downloaded to simplify and extend the use of the SoundBridge from the PC, I just haven't tried them yet. Basically it'll work right out of the box (it'll call the mothership and update it's own firmware as soon as you connect it) but you can make it much more powerful if you want to tweak it.
