2. Altruism emerged, so argues Hamilton, as a means of enhancing inclusive fitness, since primate altruism is primarily directed toward close kin that share our genes. ABC (I think) had a show on the subject of happiness last week. In it they talked about the Danes as amongst the happiest people on Earth. They made the point that the citizens of Denmark are very homogenous. They actually said that people don't seem to resent welfare payments to people who look and think like themselves. Pretty insightful I think. All politics is tribal.
