SeaChange Selected By TITUS Communications; Initiates Digital Ad Insertion in Japan

SeaChange Signs Itochu Cable Systems as Japanese Distributor

MAYNARD, Mass., Oct.7 /PRNewswire/ -- SeaChange International, Inc.
(NASDAQ:SEAC), the leader in digital ad insertion, today announced that TITUS
Communications Corp. selected the SeaChange SPOT System for the first digital
ad insertion deployment in Japan. TITUS Communications Corporation, the first
Japanese company granted a cable telephony license by the Ministry of Posts
and Telecommunications, purchased the SeaChange SPOT System to provide
advanced digital management and control for the insertion of advertising into
its cable TV programs.
Formed in 1995, TITUS was jointly established by Toshiba, Itochu, Time
Warner Inc. and US West. TITUS expects to make a significant contribution to
the development of Japan's cable television industry through use of the best
of U.S. and Japanese system design, marketing methods and cable television
hardware. TITUS plans to provide value-added services such as high speed data
transmission and interactive services to consumers in Japan. TITUS is using
the SeaChange SPOT System to encode video advertising for insertion onto four
television channels in four geographic zones within the greater Tokyo
metropolitan area.

TITUS will have 2.5 million homes passed by cable," said Craig Thompson, COO,

Japanese Distributor
The SeaChange SPOT System was sold to TITUS by Itochu Cable Systems, a
subsidiary of Itochu Corp. A new addition to SeaChange's team of
international distributors, Itochu will provide sales support and represent
SeaChange digital video products in Japan.
Itochu Cable Systems (ICSC), a subsidiary of Itochu Corporation, is a
leading international trading company with offices serving Japan and the
Pacific Rim. ICSC offers system integration, consulting and engineering
services as well as distribution of cable television equipment to companies
such as: CableTV Adachi, Chofu Cabletelevision and CTY.
