Possible Oracle/Apple Merger In The Works.....................

From the Wacko File:ÿCupertino battle lines being drawn?
The last time Rumors opened the Wacko File, Gil Amelio resigned as CEO of Apple. Today we find ourselves in the same situation; a reliable source has related something almost beyond belief -- but much too big to sit on top of while the clock ticks.
According to the source, who spoke with Ryan during an evening phone call on Friday, there are two trains on a collision course for 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California.
The first is a rather unsurprising move by Larry Ellison (Apple Board member and CEO of Oracle Corp.) and Steve Jobs; apparently, Ellison has convinced Jobs to bring an Apple-Oracle merger before the Apple Executive Board at its next meeting....and the two expect to make the merger happen, one way or another.
And, rushing to beat the Jobs/Ellison train to the station, is a rapidly accelerating Apple hostile takeover bid by UMAX, backed up by legal and monetary help by Motorola.
So, now it's a race, it seems. Either Apple and Oracle merge and become too large for UMAX/Motorola to take over, or UMAX and Moto are able to accelerate the time-table for their takeover bid and are able to take control of Apple before any other mergers are able to go through. If true, this rumor could mean a world of difference for Mac users in the very near future. An Apple/Oracle merger would be good for Apple, but might not be too good for the Mac. A UMAX/Motorola takeover would certainly be good for the Mac, and the PowerPC platform, but it might not be as good (at least in the short term) for Apple.
We'll just have to wait and see, it seems.
