Syquest probably wants to pull the rug under from Jazz If the rumours are true, a 1 GB removable drive with media costing $33 per cartridge. This will undercut the Jazz and Jazz II. Also they may announce some Rocket development which will again leapfrog them over Iomega and its Jazz II. It seems like Syquest wants to copy the success of the Zip in the 1 GB forum and make that the next future standard. The Jazz is not totally dominant yet and has been plagued by earlier defects. I guess Syquest wants to exploit this. Finally some relieve for all the longs. It's nice that Syquest has not gone bankrupt and can provide some competition. I am thinking of trading in an old 2x speed drive for another external Syjet for $299. I think it's a great deal.
