Your posts are difficult to read. I will try to respond:

You say "permanent vegetative state" .. "it was immoral to subject her body to indignities she was subjected to".

That is all your opinion. Even if it were possible to diagnose a PVS, it isn't a moral necessity to kill the person in the PVS. If being fed by a feeding tube is too undignified for someone to continue living, we'd have to kill off everyone in a coma. Do you think its a moral necessity to deprive everyone in a coma of fluids until they die?

"Neither of us wants extraordinary efforts to keep us alive, ie no extended time on life support"

What are extraordinary efforts? Is a feeding tube really an extraordinary effort?

And what is an extended time? A week? A year?

You know there are people with head injuries that live in comas for years and eventually recover.

Lastly, do you think your own preferences about these things which reflect your religious (or non-religious) values s/b forced on everyone else in our society?

"Euthanasia" is an act of mercy.

That again is your opinion drawn from your own religious beliefs based on their being no God and no value to human life. Why do you want your religious (or non-religious) values forced on others?

You should also be aware the Nazis also viewed euthanasia as an act of mercy. Thats how the Nazi killing began. Mercifully getting rid of those unfit to live a dignified life. Shouldnt that give even liberals a little pause before jumping on the euthanasia bandwagon?
