but to have a BUSH voter like you bash her makes me want to defend her.

I am not a Republican and I think that Bush's presidency has been a failure in many areas. Take that as you will. I read a letter to the editor in my local rag today that does a fairly good job of summing up this years crop of candidates..

To the editor:

As Nevada closes in on its Saturday presidential caucuses and the rest of the nation eyes the Super Tuesday primary in early February, I can't help but fear for the future of my country. Let's review our top choices. On the Democratic side, we have:

-- A pretty-boy ambulance chaser who thinks a couple of trillion dollars in wealth transfers over the past 40 years hasn't been enough "help for the poor."

-- An inexperienced if earnest junior senator who looks and sounds good, but you still suspect he's an empty suit.

-- A truly sinister woman who wants the government to own, control and dictate every facet of your life.

On the other side of the aisle, we have

-- A twice-divorced former mayor whose only apparent qualification is that he was in New York City on 9/11.

-- A bass-playing ex-governor who actually thinks the planet is only 9,000 years old and doesn't understand the United States is a secular republic.

-- A rich-boy former governor who looks the part but is suspected of being the ultimate missionary for his church.

-- A short-tempered, thin-skinned senator who votes like a member of the other party on domestic issues.

-- A libertarian firebrand who has thoughtful, proven positions on many issues but spins off into loony-land on a few critical items.

-- A good ol' boy actor-senator who looks so bored on the campaign trail you want to check him for a pulse.

The primary process is set up so the American people can learn about their candidates. The more I learn, the less I like. This may be the first time in my voting life I leave the top of the ticket blank and vote only for people down the ticket who I hope will minimize the damage any one of these candidates would inflict on the nation.
