I agree with many of your statements. A few points, though. E*Trade does now allow naked put writing. There is a 40% margin requirement, in case the stock does get put to you. As for a stop order not being executed, there is no excuse for that. Are you sure you are referring to a stop order, and not a stop limit order? A stop order triggers and becomes a market order, so you should be guaranteed an execution.
