Some non-earnings related bad news:

Read the following article;

seattletimes.com

Synopsis: Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 4.0 will wipe clean the hard disk on many of Compaq's Presario's sold over the past year. Evidently the Active Desktop features which Microsoft has trumpeted as so great interferes with some software (specifically, Home Base) that came installed on many Presarios in the past. Eventhough Microsoft found the probelm in its beta testing and fixed it, somehow the problem was reintroduced in the final shipping version of IE 4.0.

Compaq is recommending that no Presario owners load IE 4.0 until Microsoft fixes the problem. (No comment from Microsoft whether they will or not yet.) Because Home Base was only installed on specific models, Compaq is setting up a list of the models affected on its Website.

Hope none of you have encountered this problem and that earnings will be great.
