>>>the polls are saying loud and clear, americans want CHANGE...<<<

Final OT political post for me for a while - its been a nice respite from the torrent for the good news bears. It will be general.

Our founding fathers weren't so stupid. They limited the presidency to four terms (later amended to two). Change is baked into the system. Any candidate who promises to bring change, is only offering what is required under law. From my point of view, anyone who harps change is automatically someone for whom I won't vote. We can all be sure that absent a putsch, "W" will be out of office in mid-January.

Teddy Roosevelt was a great character. He considered it beneath his dignity and/or principles to run for office while holding office. He allowed his name to be placed nomination for a second term in 1904....but didn't campaign. He was overwhelmingly reelected. Pre the 1904 "non-campaign" he also promised not to run for a third term and didn't. He later formed the Bull-Moose party to run as an independent in 1912, but didn't restand in 1908.

As far as change goes, I am not interested in change at all. I am interested in wads of wads of paper with "Ben Franklins" on the front.
