The Clinton attacks on Obama are not dirty politics, they're fair, just borderline bad taste and Machiavellian. The dirty stuff is the rightwing smear campaign garbage like the email which was spammed last week about Obama being a Muslim extremist.
That stuff is hardcore evil dirty tricks.

The Clintons do know what they are doing (maybe). Today's South Carolina poll shows a 3% dip for Obama (half the voters there are black) and a 3% gain for Edwards. Clinton didn't move. So at least Clinton has brought Obama down in SC from a high of 50% (a huge landslide) to under 40% in a week. That way, Obama won't get credit for a blow-out and the race can move to Nevada where it is a three-way tie.

This is not a good week for Obama or Clinton, but several points, it's good for Edwards (which I like because he runs the strongest against the GOP by a few percent and deserves to be included in the race), it's the vetting process for Obama (because the rightwing attacks would be much-much worse including falsely linking him to Farakhan and Osama Bin Laden) and these attacks are pretty petty and shuold not affect any democrat's 100% support for WHOMEVER the eventual nominee is.
