Hello,
I found an old press release from Dec. '96. Of course I printed it out and it doesn't have an address on it, but the title is:
GTE begins second phase of lightning-fast internet access trial in Redmond, Wash.
Mdia Contacts: Melissa Barran,GTE206-261-5855
National contact: Bill Kula,GTE, 972-718-6924

"During phase two, some of the customers will begin usingmodems that transmit data :downstream" to their computers at speeds of 4 or 6 mdgabits per second, and " upstream" to GTE's switching station at 384 kilobits per second."

With the additional participants, the expanded Redmond trial will focus on high-speed solutions for telecommuting and connecting remote corporate offices, using Microsoft's Commecial Internet Services.

In both the Redmond and Texas trials, GTE is using the "Overture 4" (1.5 Mbps/160kbps) provided by Amati communicatins of San Jose, Calif., and the "FlexCap ADSL" modems (1.5Mbps/64 kbps) by Westell Tech. based in Oswego, Il.

During phase two of the Redmond trial, GTE will continue to use Westell's "FlexCap ADSL"modems and Amati's "Overture 4," plus begin using Amati's "Overture 8" modem (4 and 6 Mbps/384kbps), the fastest ADSL modem commercially available.

Is this what you are looking for????

Please excuse my spelling and I don't have time to even re read this...
I'm out the door....
later,
jacK
