The objective of the "game" Roger and Short Friends is merely to see to what degree Shorts and Longs are REALLY, SERIOUSLY committed near term (March '98) to views so easily posted to the board. A barometer of sorts. Seems to me anyone who TRULY believes that Zitel is going in the tank would be happy to commit shares to a 'game' under which no losses - other than perhaps a little pride when proven wrong - are given to occur. No more a bet than playing Monopoly. A barometer, a yardstick to separate those Long and Short alike with CONVICTION from those expousing trash and/or tolerating trash for quick profit.
Let's see if the ole CPA can get the math right. A casual player (Short or Long) can get in with 100 Shares for a modest investment of $ 2200.00. Six months interest @ 10% would be $ 110.00. A third what most probably pay to get the lawn cut over one summer (or the cab washed for those in Urban areas). Zebra's already picked up 10% of the Short's Team commitment. Others who are equally committed to the Short song will likely jump in under the revised 'no body gets hurt rules'. Anyone can get out anytime they want by "crying uncle" with a simple "I'M OUT" post.
Roger, I don't mean to single you out. There are many serious investors Short and Long on the SI board. I'm proposing a serious 'game', for serious investors who truly believe in their postings. The trash talk will likely diminish considerably as a result.
Who's in? Only $ 18.33 interest per month for 100 shares. If you truly believe in your convictions your expected returns will far outweigh your outlay. Matt, Brice, Kat, Jas, Richard, Steve and Long friends step on up folks. Cr, Wex, Don, Bear, Hank, and Short friends pick a captain and let's get the roster setup.
Before you're too quick to criticize the White Shoes Challenge II competition, propose another that will meet the same objectives at such a nominal cost to all.
