Michael Schiavo Can't Be Bought!
One million dollars wasn't enough. 10 million dollars wasn't enough. Despite the best efforts of right-wing religious zealots to force him to change the ending of his book, Michael Schiavo nobly refuses to exploit his wife for financial gain. He won't be swayed by meddlesome in-laws whose constant interference is costing ABC a fortune in TV script rewrites and seriously cutting in on his percentage. He won't be deterred by an imposing governor who thinks he cares more about Terri than her own devoted husband and his live-in girlfriend. Yes, after years of court battles and a river of tears, Mr. Schiavo's suffering will finally come to an end.

In a victory for reproductive rights, a judge has ruled that the feeding tube will be yanked out of Terri Schiavo's persistently vegetative maw this Friday, so she can begin the slow, arduous process of getting out of everyone's hair. Fifteen years is a long time to be denied the right to die with dignity. When one considers all the valuable medical resources that have been wasted keeping her "alive" and bereft of dignity, it's almost a shame that she was ever born in the first place. Or any of us, for that matter.
