I've seen the type of attitude. Maybe not evil, maybe even necessary in some areas, but profit is seen as unseemly, the impulse to it as something that should be controlled, and the whole idea supposedly something that should be kept out of really important areas ("X is to important to be left to the profit motive", or "people should not profit from Y")
