The fact that the pilots were ex-military is not unusual, like Bill says. Here in BC, most of the old logging helicopter pilots are ex-US military, Vietnam vets. (Btw, they are renowned for their frequent departures from that which we call sanity.)

But it was reported that those two particular pilots had never before been seen flying for that firm, and that they were never seen after. Now that's odd. Could just be incomplete reporting, though, or maybe we missed thorough reports, none of us buy newspapers any more, right?

Imho, it is not credible that knowledge of the scam was restricted to De Guzman and a few close buddies. Felderhof had to be involved, as Junaidi says he and De Guzman were "thick as thieves". Anyway, he was chief geologist, salting would seem to pertain to that department.

But I think it's wider than that, and I know you don't want to hear it, but Walsh is a suspect. It doesn't matter how many millions of shareholder money he spends on a whitewash, he remains a suspect.
