IMO, if 1 DRAM maker goes to 256Mb chips, then the rest must follow within, at most, 2 years or exit that market sector. It will probably take about a year to reach crossover between 256Mb and 64Mb chips. Thereafter the profits go to the 256Mb chipmakers.

My speculation is that all the DRAM makers will need steppers with CYMI's lasers for R&D, pilot lines, etc., and that they will need to begin the ramp up for 256Mb chip production by or before the end of 98.

As DRAM makers are still more than 30% of the chip market, this has to be very positive for CYMI's earnings outlook. I suspect that our friends at MS and Monty will have a little crow to eat in relatively short order.

Any comments? other views?
