MJO is one of the things we watch and I thought that was dialed in with the rest of the stew for this winters Mag 7 prediction.. The winter so far is progressing as expected, mostly warmer than normal in the East. Pretty much a repeat of 1949-1950 winter, but I'll go back and double check the scoop on the MJO. I believe it was JB who called it a dumbbell winter, with the cold loaded at each end. If you could send the URL for the article that would help. We are having snow right now here and it may turn out worse than expected, 1-2 predicted likely to end up 4-6 or even 8 inches. Out west in CA some cold weather is coming that may threaten the citrus crop...so winter will have its moments and here in the East could well end with a big bad bang late February/March!
