Snowshoe, I disagree. Drilling in ANWR has strong support from the people of Alaska. California and Florida don't share the same level of support.

Nationally, I believe polls would be evenly divided. But, that's just a guess. Political decision making has been influenced dramatically by special interest lobby groups such as the ones I identified in an earlier post.

In regard to the map and its accuracy. The size of the footprint is about as accurate as you can get without knowing precisely where the oil would be found. The map came from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, a pretty good source for things ANWR.
