Joe, Pam, Some expectations:

- 45nm starts sampling during Q2.
- 45nm SONOS (ORNAND2) will outperform NAND (this remark does not refer to cost as too many factors are still question marks).
- ORNAND1 and Quad1 will only be successful in niche markets.
- Performance of upcoming 3b/c and future 4b/c NAND is indicated to be amazingly low (but it'll sell nicely on lower cost of course).

Pam,

Eclipse has a couple of unique features that differentiate it from OneNAND and mDoc. E.g. the ability to program the partitioning of Mirrorbit vs. ORNAND parts of the die (developers can increase the Mirrorbit part at the cost of the ORNAND part of the die and vice versa).
Also it uses a single memory technology (Eclipse's mem NROM cells are the same throughout the die whether they are used for Mirrorbit or for ORNAND).
Both above points are cost savers.
There are other possibilities like using a security engine iirc.

Eclipse isn't here yet, for all we know it might get delayed a lot, e.g. if it's buggy, or even worse if performance would be lower than expected.

Regards,

Rink

PS, it's Saifun (not Seifun)
