Wayne, Your hatred for unions in no way speaks to the fact that the cars are crappy, even if produced perfectly. Toyota even came over here and taught GM how to make a car with the Geo Prism. It was a great car, as good as the Corolla. Produced in America. Now, GM has taken over completely and the Chevy Prism is nowhere near as good as the Corolla. The low costs that the industry enjoyed from labor because the suckers bought into the pie in the sky promises of pension and health costs didn't help them make good cars, either. The problem is, the folks closest to the manufacturing process have no input into the design or the process. In Japan, they do. And most of the good ideas have come from the workers. We have an adversarial relationship between labor and management and Japan has a cooperative relationship.
