To give an example, there was a young kid stationed with me in Okinawa that got into financial trouble and almost got thrown in the brig for bouncing checks. Turns out he was writing checks for things like pizzas almost every night with 0 in his checking account. After I took over his finances it took almost a year for him to clear his record.....

Reminds me of the joke about the woman who commented, "I don't see how I can be overdrawn. I still have checks in my checkbook."
