I'm confused but I guess you're wanting to make some kind of philosophical observations about the worth or lack of worth of marketing expenses and profit margins?

My original point was simply to state that a single-payer system is cheaper because there is only one insurer, the govt., and thus there is no need for such expenses as marketing and profits in the cost structure of the new entity.

This has nothing to do with any philosophical considerations.
