The point is that a part of the reason that the French pay less for healthcare is that they pay their healthcare workers (esp. doctors) less, and they pay less for prescription medicine.

So I would like to know if your asserting that going to France's insurance system would lower doctor's incomes in the US, and lower what we pay for prescription drugs.

My guess is that it would not, but I'm not sure. OTOH if it does, that change isn't necessarily a good thing. I'll explain why if you want to know, but first I'd like to hear if you think that payments to doctors and the prices for prescription drugs would go down if we changed to a health insurance system like France's and made no other changes.
